Healthy hair are always in! You need to put a little effort to style them and look gorgeous. I came up with a few ideas to get protein treatment for natural hair growth which I am going to discuss later on this post.
If you recall the women from early 90's, the first thing that will come in your mind is the long, healthy and voluminous hair. Even my mom had so pretty hair when she was young. Now you would probably be thinking, "What has changed?" or "What was the secret behind their healthy hair?"
Daily styling and environmental pollution are the two major reasons for hair damage. Women in the past were blessed with the healthy environment, safe and healthy food and they used to live a simple life. According to recent studies, stress is the primary cause of hair loss.
It is necessary to combat the reasons of stress to control the hair loss problem. Yoga reduces the stress and relaxes the body muscles. Using shampoo frequently accompanying environmental pollution, strips off the essential oils from our hair, which damages the hair follicle leaving behind damaged strands.
Protein is one of the vital building blocks of our body and is essential for healthy body, skin, hair and nail. Our hairs are made up of protein filaments that make it quite easy to understand the importance of protein for our hair health. Protein promotes hair growth, adds shine to hair, instantly increase volume and protects it from further damage.
There are two ways to nourish your hair with protein treatment.
1. Taking Protein Rich Diet
First, you have to replace your diet plan with a protein-rich diet. Do not confuse yourself with protein rich diet and protein diet, as they both are different. Protein rich diet means adding foods containing protein to your regular meals while protein diets include high protein values, which are specifically for those, who are training to build muscles or on a weight loss program. The addition of protein can greatly improve the hair growth too, a clean diet with proper protein serving can do a lot for your hair.
Sources Of Protein
Well, you are certainly thinking about those protein-rich foods right now!
Take the following food items according to your daily required value for healthy results and improve the hair growth.
Meat Protein
1. Turkey (One of the best-known source of protein)
2. Salmon
3. Tuna
4. Lean beef steak
5. Chicken Breast
Vegetable Protein
1. Spinach
2. Kale
3. Broccoli
4. Cauliflower
5. Mushrooms
Dairy Protein
1. Egg
2. Milk
3. Yogurt
4. Mozzarella Cheese
5. Cottage Cheese
Protein Supplements
You can also add a good protein shake to your daily health regimen, there are various protein supplements available in the market and online too. Addition of a fine protein supplement can help all your body to stay healthy and also help a great deal in maintaining strength of hair. For office-goers like me a good protein bar can work the same.
Along with these sources, you can also add lentils to your diet, including Soya bean that is full of proteins and contain nutrients essential for healthy hair.
We all know the importance of understanding the nutritional values of our food. I guess doing a bit of research on your food and eating habits, can help us evaluate our do's and don'ts. Try to find the ingredients that allure your taste buds and contain a reasonable amount of protein so that you can have both healthy hair, and tasty meals.
2. Protein Hair Treatment
Protein treatment is simply applying protein-rich ingredients directly on your hair. There are several ways to have protein treatment. Many hair salons offer hair protein treatments with different charges typically starting from $100. These hair treatments are effective, and you will get the result in a just first sitting. However, you must be sure about the quality of services the salon is providing.
It is not necessary to visit expensive salons every time to get this treatment done. You can try a variety of DIY protein treatments for hair, which are efficient and much cheaper than those you get served at salons. Not only that you can also try Keratin treatment at home by following this simple guide posted by me recently. Try out the following protein hair masks for amazing results within a few days.
1. Egg Mask Protein Treatment for Natural Hair Growth
When talking about protein and healthy hair, the first thing that pops up in our mind is Egg!Egg whites are rich in healthy protein that our hair and body need for proper growth. It also contains some bacteria-eating enzymes that clean our scalp. Egg yolk is rich in healthy fats which deeply nourishes our hair and adds instant shine to our hair.
For Normal/Dry Hair
Take a two eggs (with both white & yolk parts), add few drops of egg oil and beat them properly. Apply it to your full hair length starting from the roots to ends. Cover your hairs with a shower cap and leave it for at least 30-45 minutes. Some suggest to apply it for 15-20 minutes, but I believe the more it stays on your hair, the better would be the results you get.
Some people have allergies with egg oil, if you feel any irritation, replace it with olive oil. Both have the same benefits and results.
For Oily Hair
Those who have oily hair do not need that yellow part at all. Just take the whites only and whip them properly to get a smooth texture. Apply it to your hair, from tips to roots as your hair ends are more damaged.
Some people complain about the smell of egg even after thoroughly shampooing hair. I do not have any issues with the smell, just let your hair untied for an hour and it will be gone completely. However, if you are in a hurry and need to rush somewhere soon, then you can add few drops of lemon juice to your mask to minimize the smell issue.
2. Banana Hair Mask
Bananas are rich in vitamins, proteins, and healthy fats. Your body loves this fruit as much as you love it. Try consuming bananas regularly to get long term benefits. Banana mask is extremely nourishing for the hair. This mask contains egg and yogurt as well that contains an enormous amount of protein and healthy fats which will make your hair healthier and less prone to damage. If you have dry and damaged hair, try using this mask twice a week for best results.
